Green Tree Frogs

Green tree frogs belong to a group of animals called amphibians, which are represented by three orders: Anura (Frogs and Toads), Urodela (Newts and Salamanders) and Apoda (burrowing worm-like creatures).

There are over 200 species of frogs known in Australia, with approximately 114 species living in Queensland. Over 35 species of frogs are found in the south east region of Queensland and the Northern Rivers area of NSW.
The northeast of Queensland, and the southwest of Western Australia are the areas richest in frog fauna.

The largest native species is the white-lipped tree frog Litoria infrafrenata, with a combined head and body length of up to 14cm.

Of the more than 200 species of frogs living in Australia, some of these are quite common, while some of them are feared extinct.
