PART OF THE PUNISHMENT BOOK REGISTER FROM 1920-21
Despite 100 years of 'diligent attendance' to matters of discipline and student welfare some recurring themes seem to be with us always!!!
EXCERPT FROM THE NOTICE IN THE FRONT OF THE PUNISHMENT BOOK
18. Corporal punishment must not be inflicted except by the head of the school, or Department, or - under his direction and responsibility - by an assistant teacher. Junior assistants are, under no circumstances, to be allowed to inflict corporal punishment. Careful attention must be given to Regulation 196, which provides that corporal punishment "should be restricted to extreme cases. "
It is not to be recognised as a proper aid to teaching, nor should it be inflicted for failure or inability to learn, nor for neglect to prepare home lessons. |
