St Johns Primary - Synonyms
As a class we sat down with lots of different dictionaries and thesauruses
to find as many synonyms as we could for the words in the list.  Some of
them could replace the words in the story but others would change the
meaning entirely. We hope that others can add to our list.

BLACK RHINOS by Angela

B
ig danger of extinction
Live in
Africa
Can be worth lots of money
Killing is illegal

Rhinos' horns can be worth $85,000
Hard to stop being killed
In Nambia in Africa people are trying
Not to hurt the Rhinos while sawing
Off their horns to
Save them

AFRICAN ELEPHANTS by Danielle

A very large animal!
From Africa it comes!
Rolls in mud!
It lives for many years!
Can grow tusks!
A dangerous animal!
Never eats meat!

Eats grass!
Long trunk!
Every home needs one!
People kill to get their tusks!
Has one baby at a time!
A lovely gentle creature!
Not a small thing!
Terrified of mice!
