The author, Rob Atherton was a Senior Ranger in Research and Planning
for Queensland National Parks and Wildlife.
His main duties were to study species of concern - rainforest possums,
trees kangaroos and the bilby.
Rob spent many years in the Northern Queensland rainforests
and in the 1980's around the Diamantina Shire - bilby country.
Rob loved bilbies - calling them, 'the little gentlemen of the inland desert.'
Rob wrote "An Apology To Bilbies" for children so that they might one day
help the bilby to survive.

The illustrator, Gayle Kutuzov is a Brisbane artist and teacher.
She has been working in the print making area for the past 20 years.
Gayle works mainly in the linocut medium.
Her work often looks at the immediate environment and involves family life.
