This is what Raymond writes about his picture of Birithanti:
"This picture attached is of a heavenly village called Birithanti. This was the last night of our five day trek. It had rained hard the previous afternoon and evening and now the sun was shining. Everything had been washed clean again by the rain and it
was bright and sparkling. We found the best lodge in the whole of Nepal, or so our guide told us, and then the next morning spent three hours exploring the village and drinking teas in the little cafes. Bottom left of the picture you may see that they are building
a new bridge over the river. Our lodge was just the far side and we sat at breakfast watching them. The bridge framework was propped up on bamboo poles for
scaffolding. The workers seemed oblivious to the height and obvious dangers.
They would almost jump from girder to girder as they crossed the bridge holding
another great metal bar. We did not have to cross it, but used the old bridge which
was a couple of large bamboos, split down the middle and put across little
piles of stones. Having crossed the river the path then wound round and up until
we came to this excellent view point looking back over the village."
