Strategic Plan 2002 -2004

 

 

 

Our Strategic Plan for 2002 – 2004 provides a broad framework for the programs, initiatives and policies of Cammeray Public School. The underpinning ethos of our school is to provide quality education for all students in the Key Learning Areas. In addition we believe it is important to provide additional extra curricula activities that allow our children to flourish and learn new life skills.

 

This plan was developed from parent survey results, parent forum evenings, staff feedback and surveys and student input through the SRC.

 

A particular thank you to the school council members who compiled the document.

§        Continued recognition by DET and the broader community, of our school policies and programs, as exemplary models

 

§        Decrease in the number of bullying incidents as measured through the tracking system

 

§        Successful implementation and use of Glasser Principles, as the main method for student management

 

  • Monitoring to ensure broad participation in leadership, cultural, sporting and other extra curricular activities

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Quality Teaching and Learning

 

At Cammeray Public School we will promote a culture of educational excellence and provide opportunities for teachers and students to achieve their full potential.  

 

We will do this by:

 

§        Ensuring the class programs, extension programs and support programs are meeting the needs of all students

§        Encouraging a variety of Extension/ Special Interest Groups that operate before school, during lunch breaks and after school to cater for a wide cross section of our students

§        Designing programs and policies that assist the school to attract, develop and retain high quality staff

§        Ensuring staff fully understand the notion of Action Research and that reflective practice is an integral part of the culture of Cammeray

§        Promoting training opportunities to ensure staff are aware of latest research in all areas of teaching, but in particular, learning styles and catering for individual differences, Gifted Education, Gender Equity, best practice research in effective teaching

§        Ensuring classroom management strategies are uniform across the school and that parents, students and staff have a clear understanding of procedures, intervention and methods/ strategies used

§        Ensuring student leadership is a priority through SRC and other leadership training, Peer Support and Public Speaking training

§        Ensuring a strong focus on the Key Learning areas, appropriate technology is utilised and additional programs are selectively taken on board.

§        Ensuring continuity and consistency of teaching across the grades through grade planning days each term and an annual staff retreat weekend where parents and staff interact

§        Ensuring teaching and learning programs meet the needs of the community through annual evaluation of a KLA and a Management Area

§        Ensuring a strong focus on student achievement through quality teaching and reporting as well as tracking of results from Basic Skills Tests, University of NSW Tests and other standardized tests

§        Development and implementation of a Learning Support Policy which clearly outlines procedures for intervention and support for all students including GATs students and students experiencing difficulty

 

 

 

 

 

We will know we have achieved this by:

 

 

§         High parent/student/staff satisfaction in surveyed areas

§        Having clear election procedures in place for class SRC reps and school SRC reps

§        Glasser Principles are used in the class as the prime model for Student Leadership

§        Maintaining the annual individual testing of students in the Neale Analysis in Year 1 to ensure early intervention

§        Staff expecting that weekly T & D meetings are held and information shared is applied within the classroom.

§        Staff are achieving promotions positions and taking on leadership roles

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

OPTIMISING LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES AND RESOURCES FOR ALL

 

At Cammeray Public School we will ensure appropriate resources support quality programs and that learning opportunities are maximized in all Key Learning Areas. We will do this by:

 

§        Actively promoting the library as a focus area/ hub of the school

§        Maintaining and strengthening where possible the early intervention program

§        Tracking student achievement from Kindergarten through to Year 6 to ensure each student is reaching maximum potential.

§        Ensuring staff are well trained and are practicing the strategies of differentiating learning styles to ensure gender equity

§        Ensuring that learning is seen in context and in real life situations wherever possible e.g. excursions, playground lessons, local, community interaction

§        Developing a strong Creative and Performing Arts Scope and Sequence which is understood and taught in all grades

§        Building Blooms, Six Thinking Hats, Multiple Intelligence activities into KLAs

§        Ensuring resources are adequate to meet the changing needs of our students

§        Achieving and promoting an equitable balance between the extension and support classes

§        Maintaining and where possible strengthening the school sporting teams program and other extra curricular activities

 

 

We will know we have achieved this by:

 

§        All staff  are consistently incorporating strategies that support gifted education in their classrooms

§        Students are achieving at their true potential

§        BST results indicate strong growth from years 3 to 5

§        Support for students experiencing difficulty is provided within the classroom and where necessary, is tracked by the learning support team

§        Encouraging all students in years 3 –6 to participate in a minimum of two extra curricular activities per year

 

 

 

 

Informed and interested parents

 

At Cammeray we will continue to build a community of learners. We will do this by:

 

§        Increasing the community’s understanding of our school activities, performance and priorities through open communication and involvement.

§        Providing workshop opportunities for parents in subjects of interest e.g. PACT, PLAN, APEEL, Drug Education, Gender Equity, Child Protection

§        Meeting parents’ needs in reporting their children’s progress

§        Providing numerous and varied opportunities to ensure parent expertise and skills are utilized across a broad range of school activities and programs

§        Providing informative Kindergarten Orientation programs for parents and students.

§        Organising Pre school kindergarten visits to the school

§        Organising Enrichment Days where the talent from the community can be shared with the students and staff of Cammeray

 

 

 

We will know we have achieved this by:

 

§        Increased parent involvement in forums, surveys, workshops and class programs such as Maths and Reading

§        Increased parent satisfaction with information processes regarding student progress in the classroom. and other programs offered such as parent / teacher meetings, parent/ teacher interviews and reports

§        Strong and growing parent involvement in P & C, and through the subcommittees, such as:  Grounds, Canteen, Uniform, Technology and Fundraising

§        Student and parent satisfaction in the enrichment programs offered
