Drama

Cerdon College has elective Drama offered to years 9 - 12. The course is performance based and designed as a hands-on introduction to the world of theatre. Over 300 students presently study the courses under the direction of two professionally trained teachers.

Students study units based on topics as diverse as:

  • Screen Acting
  • Mime
  • Movement
  • Shakespeare in Performance
  • Playbuilding
  • Improvisation
  • Puppetry
  • Scripted & Unscripted Drama

Every year presents some type of performance in front of a live audience and are encouraged to be involved at every level. Students have directed, produced, acted, operated lighting and sound and even promoted productions. To establish these productions, a theatre group entitled B.O.T.S Theatre (or Boys on the Side) was established and run by students.

Students attend a number of performances at theatre companies all over Sydney and are encouraged to attend theatre outside of school. Recently students attended The Midday Show at the Channel Nine studios for their television unit.

Senior Drama is very popular as a 2 Unit course that adds to the overall results in the Higher School Certificate. This course is assessed both practically and in written form. Each student creates and presents a self-devised piece of Drama.

Cerdon College Drama philosophy is Take the Challenge - so why don't you take the challenge and join the fastest growing subject in the state.
