Exploring Early Childhood

Exploring Early Childhood is a 1 Unit course studied for 2 years. Students who satisfactorily complete the course in Year 11 and 12 will be eligible to be awarded the Advanced Child Care Certificate.

Year 11 Compulsory Course Content:

• Pregnancy
• Birth
• Child Development
• Toys and Play
• Discipline

Year 12 - 3 core options to be studied. Choices include:

• Nutrition for babies and Children
• Children with special needs
• Children's Literature

Assessment includes:

• A study of a child under 5 years which takes the form of a journal. This is collected twice per term
• A practical toy or game which is made at school
• Practical food preparation e.g. child's birthday cake

COSTS

• costs of materials and food items;
• $5 charge for written literature as no textbook is required

EXAMS

• No formal H.S.C. exam (but this subject is entered on your H.S.C. as a subject of study)
