What is this subject about?
Food Technology provides an opportunity to gain an understanding of food technology and nutrition. It also develops skills in practical food preparation, organisation, research, communication and working in small groups and individual situations.
What will I learn?
- To prepare food for special occasions
- To understand and value the importance of sound nutrition.
- To gain an insight into the food service and catering industry.
- To relate food and small business.
- To display food creatively
- To adapt and prepare food to suit daily lifestyles
What are some of the activities covered in this subject?
- Design meals and presenting foods for special events
- Excursions to:
- Food Service and Catering venues, Eg: Sizzler
- Industries where technology is used in food preparation, Eg Pepsi
- Participation in A.G.L. young chef's award
