History in Years 7 & 8 |
WHAT IS AN HISTORIAN?
Historians are like a detective, that is they try to solve the mysteries of the past. An important part of the role of an historian is asking questions and trying to find the answers through a detailed study and investigation of the events at that time.
In history in year 7 to 10, we at Cerdon College, give students the opportunity to become Historians. Students are actively encouraged to develop their skills of questioning and investigation in their attempt to solve the mysteries of the past, while at the same time we allow them to develop a better understanding of the world in which we live.
HISTORY IN YEAR 7 & 8
In year 7 and 8, History has an Australian focus. We give students a hands on approach to the study of our nation's heritage; from the experience of an Aboriginal cultural day, to life in convict barracks, to a harbour cruise examining the defence of Sydney harbour during World War II. Students develop a better understanding of our past by experiencing what it is like to actually be there at that time.
History in Years 9 and 10 moves students onto the world stage. They have the opportunity to examine some of the most interesting events and issues in world history.
