What is this subject About?
- Textile Technology deals with many areas which affect our daily lives.
- Students commence by learning basic textile construction and design skills and continue to build on these in year ten.
- Textile Technology is about problem solving.
What will I Learn?
- Pattern Interpretation skills
- Designing skills
- New concepts and skills relating to construction of garments
- Presentation skills through the development and recording of the Design Process in Portfolios
- Applying decorative techniques such as printing and dyeing to fabrics
- Discover the reasons why fabrics and fibres perform the way they do.
What are some of the activities covered in this subject?
- Fashion in Skirts, Stylish Shirts, Jazzy Jackets and Lovely Lingerie
- Excursions to : Royal Agricultural Show and Whitehouse School of Design
- Participation in competitions such as T.E.A Design Awards and Open Day Fashion Parade
Costs Involved includes the cost of patterns, fabric and related equipment; display folder.
