Our fifth book was reviewed by Mrs Basu's daughter:
Opinion: Hatty's Hotline is an extremely entertaining book. It is the sequel to the book Sit Down Mum, There's Something I Need to Tell You, but makes perfect sense whether you have read the first book or not.
It starts by telling you about all the characters in the book. For example Hatty's mother (Margaret), step-dad (Joe), her step-grandmother (Kitty), her best friend (suzy) as well as her sweet boyfriend (Raymond). Other characters are introduced throughout the book.
The book's main focus is all the things that happen after Hatty managers to convince the editor of the local newspaper that they need a teen advice column. This is Hatty's Hotline and provides Hatty with extra money to put aside for her overseas trip with her boyfriend sometime in the future. Hatty ends up spending all her time answering questions like "I have two good looking boyfriends both with great personalities. How can I decide which to drop and which to keep?"
While answering hundreds of questions like this, Hatty ends up having to cope with a step-grandmother obsessed with garden gnomes, a best friend that doesn't understand and a boyfriend who is fed up to the back teeth.
It is very interesting and entertaining to find out how Hatty deals with all these problems of her own as well as those of her fans.
