There were no bathrooms in the Homestead. In the main bedroom there was a hip bath. The maids had to get buckets of water from the kitchen to put in the hip bath so the people could wash themselves. It was portable so they could move it around wherever they wanted to. There was a handle to pull it around. There were no taps. The bath was made out of tin. They had one bath per week. The cleanest one went in first and the dirtiest last.
