by Year Four Students Coominya State School 1996
Bellevue Homestead is located in the township of Coominya about one hours drive from Brisbane. Year Four Class went on an excusion to the Homestead. We walked from the school to the Homestead. It took 10 minutes.
We went to learn about things from the past and comparing them to what we use today. We saw lots of old things and antiques that are not used very much today. Some things that were different were baths, irons, sewing machines, beds, bottles, chamber pots, wallpaper and kettles. They also had lots of maids to take water to the hip bath, serve the food, and do all the housework.
We visited many of the twenty-nine rooms in the Homestead.
