Generally a 2 Unit subject, and counted as a group 2 selection. This subject is a Board Development Course which counts towards the HSC and is eligible for a T.E.R.
The course provides the student with a choice of topics about Greece and Rome over a period of two years. No prevoius knowledge of History is presumed or required. In fact students select the subject because through archaelogical and artistic evidence as well as the works of both modern and ancient authors, a complete picture of the nature of that culture is studied.
The assessment schedule deals with all skills and is not just assessed on a student's ability to write essays. The syllabus is wide ranging and allows for a lot of choice of study.
It is hoped that through a study of past events students may reach a better understanding of the forces governing progress today. In this sense, Ancient history is a very modern subject and as with many humanities subjects, is ideal for future employment prospects.
