2 Unit Society and Culture aims to help students become socially literate. There are 5 key concepts: the individual, society, culture, environment and time. Through an understanding of each of these, students develop a greater understanding of themselves, their own culture as well as other societies and cultures and times. |

They learn a number of valuable
skills such as social research. When the students are in
Year 12, they have to submit a Personal Interest Project
which counts for 30% of their final mark. In it they must
demonstrate that they have read widely, designed
questionnaires, conducted interviews and explained their
