Blue Lagoon Canoe Polo Challenge 2008

Justin, Patrick, Wayne, Michael, Joel, Mr. Wilson, Jack
THE DAPTO BATS TEAM (with Sandra, an impostor)

We headed out early Friday afternoon for the beautiful north NSW coast, all very excited about the weekend about to transpire.  This year we took our whitewater kayaks as well so we could have a good play in the surf before and after the polo games.  The trip northward was eventful due to problems with the tail lights on the hire bus.  We had to travel most of the distance without tail lights as we couldn't solve the problem on the road in the dark.  Come daylight and on finding some diagnostic tools the lights were fixed and we could de-stress and get into the competition.  The team played well over the two days and we all had a marvelous time, learning a lot of new tactics and skills from our opponents.  We collectively scored many goals and won several games, giving us a great confidence boost and a renewed desire to keep training hard for the future.  Special thanks to Wayne McManus (Yr 12, 2006) for coming back to be part of the team again.

One of several adventures into the foamy stuff.
We would like to express our sincere thanks to the parents and staff of Dapto High School for their support and encouragement of the team, enabling us to get to competitions such as the Blue Lagoon Challenge.  It is a costly exercise, and the boys' commitment and the financial assistance of parents and our school Travel Fund are very much appreciated.

We've made it our tradition to stop for a photo shoot at the big bass in Bulahdelah on the homeward trip.
