MIDI (musical instrument device interface) is a way to create music on computers.  MIDI music is a big part of our lives and we hear it almost everywhere.  

MIDI music is very easy to make on a standard computer, and a school can engage in high-end production without buying a single item of equipment or software.

You can download a lot of MIDI files from Yahoo or Yahooligans. Check the copyright of MIDI files on the internet. The Massiva player mentioned in the above documents can be downloaded here (it's freeware!). Just remember to set the OPTIONS - MIDI - OUT to the right settings so you can hear something, then make these the default.  Also, press F12 to get the navigator up and running.
