Sheilds

The Shield is made of a single piece of timber.

The Aboriginal men used it for protection in battle and a cover while stalking prey.

They used it by holding it in front of their bodies.

Each shield varied enormously in shape and decoration, depending on the needs and the imagination of its maker.

Most were cleverly fashioned and were usually about 30cm across the centre and about 60cm long, coming to a tapering point at each end.
