Sudan

Sudan forms a semi-arid transition zone between the Sahara on the north and the wet tropical region on the south.

There are mostly deserts and scrubland in the north with grass land and savannah to the south.

The name Sudan (Arabic,''black'') is a reference to the black people who historically have lived in the region.
