BLUE MOUNTAINS COAL AND SHALE
Most of the coal mines in Lithgow Valley are now worked out. Coal production exceeded 240,000 tonnes per working day in the early 1980's.
There were also coal and shale mines near Katoomba.
The coal and shale train tracks are now tourist places and are called the Zig Zag Railway and the Scenic Railway.
