GOLD

In 1851 gold was discovered between Bathurst and Orange. Bathurst provided food and equipment for gold diggers. People flocked from all parts of the colony and some people were lucky enough to find gold at only 2 or 1 metres deep. Then some people found gold in Victora so everyone fled to Victoria and the Blue Mountains area turned back into farming land.
