Hammerhead Shark!

The Hammerhead Shark has large flattened extensions on either side of his/her head. The extensions help the sharks make sharper turns than other sharks. The shark's eyes and nostrils are placed at each side of its head which makes it easier to see and track their prey.

The powerful hammerhead shark a large toothed strong swimmer can grow from 3 and a half - 4 and a half metres long.

The hammerhead has made several attacks on divers and when they decide to bite, boy they bite! They can give you a very nasty nip or two.

There are many types of hammerhead -two of these are the Great hammerhead (Sphyrna
mokarran) and the Scalloped hammerhead (Sphyrna lewini).
