Elanora Heights Business Community

Kalang Road, Elanora Heights

BP Service Station

We visited the B.P petrol station in Elanora Heights shops and conducted a mini interview with the manager. This is what we learnt:-

The workers at Elanora Heights B.P. have to learn how to operate the pumps and also need to know what to do in an emergency. They also know about the cash register and how to give out the right amount of change to the customers.

At the petrol station they work from Monday to Friday from 6:00am until 8:00 pm. That's 14 hours a day!

On the premises they have 5 staff to do all of the jobs that have to be done.

The petrol station gets 300-400 customers per week. (That's a lot of business for one week.)

They have a lot of equipment on the property and they use it all. some of these tools include: the pumps, the register and the tools used to mend broken cars.

The man at B.P most enjoys meeting new people and talking. (As we both had noticed as soon as we walked in because of his big smile.)

The most unusual incident that had happened to him whilst he was at work was when a man came up to him and threatened to make him hand over all of the money in the till. Luckily the owner was able to hold him off until the police came to the rescue.
