  Igloos

Igloos are made of snow, sod, earth and stone. The blocks are up to 60 to 90 cm long and 30 to 60 cm wide. The blocks are in a rectangle shape. Inside an igloo there is a platform that Eskimos sleep on.

An Igloo is made this way because it is the only thing they have to build with. Eskimos have summer houses that are built out of animal skins.

Some Eskimo people only live in the igloo for a temporary time.

Igloos have an air vent on the top so smoke can get out.

The people that live in igloos are communities of Eskimos and their dogs.
