ELANORA HEIGHTS PRIMARY SCHOOL

Mrs Lita Cena comes to visit

Mrs Lita Cena

Mrs Lita Cena from Corinthia Park School, Leduc, Alberta, Canada came to spend a day at our school on 5th August, 1998. Mrs Cena teaches 2nd Grade.

Mrs Cena spent most of the day with 2W because these children will be the special friends for her class when Mrs Cena goes back to Canada.

Mrs Cena had many surprises for the children including a Canadian flag sticker for each child.

Mrs Cena taught the children some action songs and had a lot of fun with them. The children loved her and wanted to tell her all about themselves.

stickers to Mrs Walsh.

The 2W children had made some
kangaroos and koalas for Mrs Cena
to take back to the Canadian children.

Mrs Walsh and the children of 2W made some Australian animals. Each koala has a gum leaf to put in its mouth. This is a good idea because there are no gum trees in Leduc.

Each kangaroo has a joey that goes in and out of its pouch.

Mrs Cena is looking at the Internet
pages made by 2W children about the
uses of oil.

Leduc is famous for producing a lot of oil. The children of 2W found thought about the things in our society that are made from oil and made some web pages about them.

Mrs Cena was so excited and interested in these pages and this made the children very, very pleased. These are the first pages that 2W have made. It was wonderful to hear Mrs Cena say that her children in Canada would be reading these pages.

Mrs Cena brought two oil dolls with her. The children were most interested and pleased. The one on the right is the boy Black Gold doll and he sparkles in the light.

The girl Black Gold doll is on the left here. She has gold legs and arms. Oil in Canada is known as Black Gold. It is black and it is worth a lot of money.

The Black Gold dolls are staying with 2W for a little while.

Children are taking turns to have one of these oil dolls to visit in their homes. Each doll has a diary and the children help the dolls to write about the adventures they have with Australian families.

The dolls brought with them a lot of information about Leduc to show the Australian families.

Sharing a story with Mrs Cena.

Mrs Cena brought a number of story books that her second Grade children had written.

2W is allowed to keep these books for their book corner. It is fun to read them.

Mrs Cena read a really interesting story to the children.

2W children were sad to see Mrs Cena leave but she had to go and see some other children in the computer room.

to see pictures of Mrs Cena visiting Pickletown.

to read the history of Pickletown.
