Elanora Heights Home PageOur Research ProjectsWhat do we use oil for?

 Aeroplanes

Light aircraft use avgas. Avgas is refined oil.

Moving parts of aeroplanes use oil so they can keep moving.

There are many parts of aeroplanes and jets that are made of plastic.

Jets use kerosene. Kerosene is refined oil.

Kerosene is mixed with air to burn and make the jet go.

The outside of the aeroplanes and the jets are painted.
