ELANORA HEIGHTS PRIMARY SCHOOL

Mrs Lita Cena visits Pickletown in August, 1998

Mrs Lita Cena

Mrs Lita Cena from Corinthia Park School, Leduc, Alberta, Canada came to spend a day at our school on 5th August, 1998.

The 3rd Grade children invited her to visit Pickletown and gave her a container of gumnut money to spend in the shops.

This is the box full of gumnut money
that the children gave to Mrs Cena
to spend in Pickletown.

Mrs Cena is looking at all the different types of gumnuts which we use for money in Pickletown.

There are big nuts worth 50 little nuts and the little nuts are worth only one.

By Michael, Oliver and George.

We gave Mrs Cena a shopping bag and some gumnuts for money. Mrs Cena bought a little cone with seeds in it from our shop and some aloe vera for her skin.

By Lauren, Evie, Kate and Alex.

Mrs Cena is looking at all the
beautiful displays.

Mrs Cena has many things in her
bag and is buying more.

Sometimes tax collectors come around to our shops and say "I'm your tax collector. Give me five gumnuts".

But sometimes they are not supposed to be the tax collector so they get taken to court and have to return all the stolen gumnuts.

Jarryd and Tom M. run the court and if lots of people attend the courtcase the shop next to it has to move. Jarryd and Tom M. are the lawyers.

There is a policeman called Thomas. Thomas helps Jarryd and Tom M. to get the thieves.

The court case - the jury is in the background.
The "thief" is sitting with his head down.
The judge is giving the judgement.

Mrs Cena was most interested in
the Xanthorrhea spike because she
had read about these on our web
page.

Mrs Cena is holding the spike of a Xanthorrhea. This is the Xanthorrhea that someone stole from us one day and the lawyers made them pay us a fine of 50 gumnuts as well as giving back the spike.

Today someone was selling snails at their shop.

We had stocks of aloe vera and Prickly Moses and Mrs Cena bought some of these from our shop.

By Oliver and Michael.

We had not been allowed on the oval
at lunchtime because the grounds
were too wet so we had to hurry to
get our shops ready for Mrs Cena.

We put little Acacia flowers in the
Heath Banksia pods and they look
like eyes and a nose.

We were selling little animals made out of Banksia pods.

Mrs Cena gave us some gumnuts for the echidna she was buying.

By Lauren and Georgia.
