Alfred Deakin
Alfred Deakin was Australia's second, fifth and seventh Prime Minister. Deakin was born on the 3rd of August 1856 in Melbourne. He studied law at the University of Melbourne. He did not enjoy practising law so he became a journalist for the Melbourne Age Newspaper.
Because he liked politics he joined the Protectionist Party and won a seat in the Victorian Parliament.
All the times that Alfred Deakin went in to Parliament he went into the Protectionist Party. In his first term in Parliament, he was in office from 24/9/1903 to 27/4/1904.
The 2nd time was from 5/7/1905 to 10/11/1908 and his 3rd was period was from 29/4/1909 to 13/4/1910.
His major achievements as Prime Minister were
*He helped the Federation of Australian Colonies.
*He established immigration, conciliation and arbitration laws.
He died on the 7th of October 1919. He was 63 years old.
