Andrew Fisher
Andrew Fisher was born in Scotland, in 1862 on the 29th August. He had bad schooling and read at night to keep himself educated. At the age of ten he worked in the coal mines of Scotland.
In the year 1885 he migrated to Australia and worked in the coal mines. In Australia he spent all his spare time reading. As an active member of the Australian Labor Party, he became Australia's sixth Prime Minister. His first term in Parliament was from the 10th November 1908 - 29th April 1909 a total of six months, two weeks and three days, his second term was from 13th April 1910 - 24th June 1913 which was three years, two months and eleven days, and his last from 5th September - 27th October 1915, one month and twenty one days. He spent broken years as Prime Minister.
Andrew Fisher was Prime Minister when World War 1 broke out and he promised England "Australia will support England to the last man and the last shilling!"
Andrew Fisher was a quiet, honest and warm hearted man who did well for Australia. He died on the 22nd October 1928 in England.
