 John Grey Gorton

John Grey Gorton was born on the 9th of September 1911. He was educated at Sydney's Church of England Grammar School and also Geelong Grammar Schools. When he was older he worked on his father's orchard until travelling to England to go to the Oxford University, where he graduated. He returned home in 1935 with his wife.

He became Prime Minister in 1968 and left in 1971.He was Prime Minister for approximately three years. He was a member of the Liberal Party. When he was Prime Minister he wanted no more Australians in Vietnam and he pledged no more drilling in The Great Barrier Reef. Some of his colleagues weren't happy with the quick decisions he made but learnt to get along with them.

John Grey Gorton was also a Fighter Pilot in the Second World War. After crashing in Singapore his face was badly damaged and he needed plastic surgery.

He is still alive today.
