Whale Shark

This picture is from Encarta.

Whale Sharks are the biggest sharks. They like to eat plankton which includes tiny baby crabs and they also eat small fish. They can swallow up to 100 fish in one go. They eat tropical krill.

The whale shark is very thin but very wide. It has a huge mouth.

They are grey and white in colour. They often have sucker fish clinging to their bellies.

They live in warm oceans. People are the main predator of the Whale Shark. Whale Sharks are sometimes damaged by ships.

The Whale Shark is very heavy and it is the largest fish that lives in the sea. It is the largest cold-blooded creature still known to be living on the earth. These animals have enormous tails and flippers. Their tails can be 3metres from top to bottom and their heads can be more than 2metres wide.
