 WESTERN SAMOA

The population of Western Samoa is 163,000. The official language is English and Samoan. Western Samoans are Polynesian people. They have lived there for about 2000 years.

Most of the Samoan people live in villages on the shores of the beaches. The islands of Western Samoa were formed by volcanoes erupting. Western Samoa is north east of New Zealand.

Western Samoa is one of the smallest countries in the world. The villages have a population of 100 to 500 people. There are about 400 of these villages. The capital city of Western Samoa is Apia.
