Fiji is in the South Pacific Ocean. It's made up of 330 islands and about 500 more tiny atolls, islets, reefs. The Island Viti Levu (Big Fiji) covers about half of Fiji.

The Capital of Fiji is Suva. Suva is the largest City in Fiji.

The language which Fijians speak is Fijian, English and Hindu. 46 percent of Fijians are descendents of labourers from Indonesia. The rest are Polynesians, Micronesians, Europeans and Chinese.

The population of Fiji is 758,275. The area of it is 18,330sqkm (7,075sq Miles)

There are three main religions in the Islands, 51% are Methodist Christian, 40% Hindu and 8% Muslim.

The climates on the Islands range from 16-33 degrees C. (60-90 degrees F.) The rainfall reaches about 236mm (60 inches).

Fiji gets most of it's money by growing coconuts, bananas and rice. Their main industries are sugar processing and fish canning. They earn money from livestock and gold-mining. Tourism is also an important revenue earner.

Thousands of years ago Melanesians migrated to Fiji, probably from Indonesia. A small group of Polynesians came to Fiji A.D 100's. In 1643 Abel Tasman a dutch navigator was the first European to spot the Islands. Captain James Cook visited Vatoa in 1774.   

Fiji has a President and a Prime Minister. The President is the head of State and the Prime Minister is the head of Government. The President has more power than the PM because he tells the PM what to do and who the PM will be. In the House of Representatives there are 70 members and the Senate has 34 members.
