NAURU

The Republic of Nauru is a small Pacific island 2100 km north east of the Australian coastline. It is 19 km in circumference with a population of 9919 people.

The capital is Yaren. The majority of people speak Nauruan or English. Their currency is the Australian dollar. It was once rich in phosphates but it has been extensively mined and shipped to Australia and Japan to be made into fertiliser. These phosphate minerals are just about exhausted now.
