Solomon Islands

The Solomon Islands are in the South Western Pacific.

The total area is 27,556 sq kms. The Solomon Islands are hot and humid. The population is 35288 which was estimated in 1900. Melanesians make up about 94 percent of the population. There is a small minority of the population that are Polynesians. There are 80 local languages used.

Honiara is the capital.

The main industries are fishing, timber, oil palm, agro-processing, cocoa and copra.
