HABITAT:

The Dusky Moorhen lives near swamps, where it's wet, and also in calm places.

DISTRIBUTION:

The Dusky Moorhen is wide spread around Australia in: N.S.W, Q.L.D., Victoria, a bit of W.A. and S.A.

INTERESTING FACTS:

This animal has two yellow tufts under it's wings. It dives a lot under the water to get its food (like most water birds).

The Dusky Moorhen cannot fly, it's feet are just a little webbed so it can't swim too fast. It likes to be in calm places because it's a pretty shy bird. It doesn't usually attack but when trespassers come, it defends its nest.

It likes the swamps because there are a lot of aquatic plants. It's food is aquatic plants (food that grows under water.)
