White-browed Scrubwren

DESCRIPTION:

The White-browned Scrubren has a distinctive white brow above the eyes and has a white chest. It has a brown back and it also has a small fairly straight, pointed beak and is fairly small.

Behaviour:  

The Scrubwren lives in pairs or small groups which occupy a territory up to 5 hectares.It is an active bird which prefers to stay in dense cover.It eats small insects which it gets from the undergrowth

REPRODUCTION:

Breeeding occurs from July to December or January.The scrubwren lays 2-3 eggs. The female builds and incubates unaided. Its nest is a loose, rough domed structure, with a side entrance. The nest is made of vegetation, bark fragments and is lined with feathers. It is a well hidden nest which is on or near the ground.

DESCRIPTION OF SOUND:

It has a simple, clear whistled song and a variety of harsh twittering noises.

HABITAT:

It lives in the wetlands and prefers to stay in dense cover of the undergrowth.

DISTRIBUTION:

The White-browed Scrubwren is widely spread throughout eastern and southern Australia, from Cairns, in the east, to Shark Bay, in the west.

INTERESTING FACTS: 

It has a distinctive white brow above its eye.
