GEOGRAPHY
The Gold Coast is located approximately 80 kilometres south of Brisbane, Queensland's capital city. The Gold Coast area extends from Beenleigh in the North, to Coolangatta in the South, which lies on the border of Queensland and New South Wales. It extends West to the hinterland and East to the Pacific Ocean, where you will find 55 kilometres of Queensland's best beaches. The Gold Coast has a total area of approximately 1500 square kilometres.

The Gold Coast experiences an average of 245 days of fine weather each year. Daytime temperatures are above 22 degrees for 279 days a year.
TOURISM
Over three and a half million tourists visit the Gold Coast region each year. With a wide variety of activities and attractions, our area caters for visitors of all ages. The Gold Coast is home to three major theme parks, Sea World, Movie World and Dream World. Each offers a wide variety of rides and attractions, providing fun for all the family.

SPORT
Each year the Gold Coast hosts the Australian Indy Car championship. Surfers Paradise streets transform into a first class race track and world champion Indy drivers from all corners of the globe storm the Gold Coast chasing the winner's crown. The Gold Coast is home to the Chargers Rugby League team and the Rollers Basketball team. The Gold Coast Marathon and Half Marathon is held annually.
