Sporting Graduates

Hayden Stoeckel

Since graduating from Glossop High School in 2002, Hayden has continued his competitive swimming and has excelled. He made his debut in the 2008 Beijing Olympics for Australia in the 100m backstroke which he won a bronze medal. He also competed in the 200m backstroke.

To finish an outstanding effort in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Hayden become an Olympic silver medallist when on the 17th of August in the 4 x 100 medley relay the Australian team narrowly lost to the United States. This team broke the previous world record to achieve this silver medal. Representing Australia with him in the relay were Eamon Sullivan, Brenton Rickard and Andrew Lauterstein.

His recent performances also include:

2008 swimming Trials in Sydney, Australia. He finished 2nd in the 100m backstroke and finished 1st in the 200m backstroke.

With a personal best time of 53.86 at the 2008 Swimming Trials in the 100m backstroke, this moved him to equal 14th fastest in history. In the 200m backstroke he claimed a time of 1m56.57s which broke the Commonwealth record at the time.

 

Samuel Fisher

Since graduating from Glossop High School in 1999, his football career has gone from strength to strength. He is now a senior player for the Saint Kilda Saints in the AFL.

He was drafted by Saint Kilda in 2003 as a 4th round selection, No. 55 overall. He made his AFL debut in 2004. As of August 2008 he has played 90 games and his honours at Saint Kilda include 3rd best and fairest in 2006 and he also received 2 Brownlow Medal votes in that same year.

Previous to his drafting, he played for West Adelaide (SANFL).
