Hayden Stoeckel
Since graduating from Glossop High School in 2002, Hayden has continued his competitive swimming and has excelled. He made his debut in the 2008 Beijing Olympics for Australia in the 100m backstroke which he won a bronze medal. He also competed in the 200m backstroke.
To finish an outstanding effort in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Hayden become an Olympic silver medallist when on the 17th of August in the 4 x 100 medley relay the Australian team narrowly lost to the United States. This team broke the previous world record to achieve this silver medal. Representing Australia with him in the relay were Eamon Sullivan, Brenton Rickard and Andrew Lauterstein.

2008 swimming Trials in Sydney, Australia. He finished 2nd in the 100m backstroke and finished 1st in the 200m backstroke.
With a personal best time of 53.86 at the 2008 Swimming Trials in the 100m backstroke, this moved him to equal 14th fastest in history. In the 200m backstroke he claimed a time of 1m56.57s which broke the Commonwealth record at the time. |
