A cumulative story about cats from over the world and a cat that likes to hide in boxes. It has a catchy rhyming pattern that children like to imitate.
1.Make stick puppets of the characters from the story :- my cat, the cat from France, the cat from Spain, the cat from Norway, the cat from Greece, the cat from Brazil, the cat from Berlin and the cat from Japan. Find the different countries on the globe or a world map.
These can be used for class shared reading and for small group reading. They can also be used for acting out the story.
2. Innovate the text by creating new cat characters from different countries or towns. Make this into a class book.
3. Individual writing creating new rhymes about cats from different places.
4. Individual writing about where my cat likes to hide.
6. Research cats and make a cat fact book.
7. Find out other members of the cat family.
8. Read poems and nursery rhymes about cats.
9. Read other cat stories.
CATS
There's music in a hammer,
There's music in a nail,
There's Music in a tom-cat
When you tread upon his tail.
