Becky Christopherson
Reflecting On Woodlands
While sitting in my desk at St. Mary's, my school,
Spinning a protractor, compass or some other tool,
I was met with the sound of our class telephone ringing,
Upon picking it up, our Librarian's voice was singing.
"Oh congrats dear Becky, you've been accepted
to this years writers camp. I kid you not, you are expected."
The next thing I knew I was dreaming up plans,
And imagining what I'd do while away at Woodlands.
The views were terrific, the atmosphere serene,
And everyone enjoyed using the vending machine!
We learned some techniques to help with the stories we wrote.
(We found it quite different to subjects like L.O.T.E.)
That night we stayed up late, told ghost stories and dreamed,
Upon waking the next morning to a sunshine that gleamed.
Andy, Christine, Lesley and Brian
shared their writing techniques so we could try them.
They made us laugh, ponder and helped us to believe
We too could be writers one day if we pleased.
By the next afternoon it was time to retreat,
Back to our homes to reflect and to sleep.
To all who made those days possible and true,
It was a valuable and fun experience for us all,
Thank you.
