Just my Luck

[From a writing exercise given by Andy Griffiths]

I was sitting at the kitchen table eating my cornflakes, as usual when I began to realize I was shrinking.

I didn't know what was happening. It crossed my mind that I was dying. Then suddenly, I heard this drooling sound. Just my luck. It was my baby brother. But from that angle, he didn't look like a baby.

Oh great! Just my luck. He had a dog with him. But I wasn't paying attention to that because my cornflakes were falling off the kitchen bench.

Next thing I know, I'm wearing a cornflake as a hat. Suddenly the dog picks me up and takes me to his drinking tray outside. He drops me in his water.

It took me over 5 minutes to climb out of the water tray. I had this feeling that I'm not going to make it to school that day. I sit down for a rest, exhausted from my unexpected adventure. But what I didn't know was that my adventure wasn't over.

Out of the blue this magpie swoops me up. Just my luck. Great! I'm on my way to being magpie meat while I should be at school. I never thought I'd say this … but I'd rather be at school!

I struggled and struggled until it dropped me. I sigh with relief as I'm dropped onto a furry leaf. I lie down until I feel an antennae on my face. "Aaa-a-a-a-aa," I scream. A giant stinkbug! So that's what the smell was!

Oh yuck! What was I going to do? That smell was horrible.

Then, I woke up! Now I know what the smell from the stinkbug was!

I will leave it with you to figure it out!
