GOANNA

Goannas have four legs and a long tail. Goannas are scaly animals. Goannas are cold blooded so they are reptiles.

WHY THEY ARE DANGEROUS: Goannas can tear you with their sharp claws.

FOOD: The goanna is a meat eater. It can eat snakes, rabbits, other lizards, mice, rats, insects and eggs.

WHERE THEY LIVE: Goannas live in hollow logs and under rocks. They can be found all over Australia except for Melbourne and Tasmania.

DID YOU KNOW: Some Aboriginal people catch this lizard for food. They throw the dead lizard into the fire and wait until the skin begins to peel before eating it.
