THE YELLOW BELLY SEA
SNAKE 
The yellow belly sea
snake is a
carnivore.
It has a flat tail to
help it swim.
It can be caught
with a net and sold to zoos.
Its fangs are small but can inject a toxic venom into the
skin.
Its normal length is less than one metre.
The yellow belly sea snake has been mistaken for eels.
They belong to the hydrophilidae.
They are common in the warm tropical seas of Northern
Australia where they are often sighted by skin divers and
fishermen.
