Blue-Tongued Lizard

The blue tongue lizard is found only in Australia and is one of the largest skinks in the world. They eat flowers, fruits, berries and also hunt insects and snails.

The Bush Cockroach is like an armoured tank. There are many kinds of Bush Cockroaches and they move pretty fast.

Echidna

The echidna is a spiny anteater. It has very poor eyesight. In cold weather it stays warm under leaf litter.

Cicada

Cicadas are noisy insects in the summer months. When they grow too big for their shell it splits. They leave it on a tree and grow a new shell. They feed on sap from the trees and they change colour.

Millipede

Millipedes hide in dark, damp places such as rotting logs. They crawl through leaf litter looking for a home. -Jessica, Yr 5,1999

Forest Dragon

The forest dragon is an egg laying reptile that lives in Queensland. It is a browny grey colour and is about 45 to 50cm in length.

15cm of this is its head. It has spines down its backbone and has white spots around its head.

Wolf Spider

The wolf spider can run up to 2 kilometre per hour. It is deadly to man. It has two eyes looking upwards. It lays up to about forty eggs and it carries the babies on its back. It eats grasshoppers,smaller spiders and it is a predator of the white-tailed spider.
