Birds that Fly or Walk Into Our Rainforest

The Blue-faced Honeyeater is one of 65 different species of honeyeaters in Australia.Its common names are banana bird, blue eye and mulberry bird. It lives in eucalyptus woodlands and mangrove and paperbark swamps.It lays eggs with pinkish-brown spots. They take 2 to 3 weeks to hatch.

The Yellow Tailed Black Cockatoo is a very noisy bird.

It is brownish black and its feathers and ears are tipped with yellow.

They feed on nuts,seeds berries and blossoms. They live in Eastern Australia to central Queensland.

Eastern Whipbird

The eastern whipbird is a small olive,green,white-cheeked rainforest bird. It eats insects and other small creatures living in the rainforest.

It has a very distinctive call when seeking its mate.

These territorial birds are all around our area. They are also called mickey birds.

The King Parrot

King Parrots are beautiful and are found in our area. The female parrot is mostly green with some scarlet on the lower breast and the belly. The male is much brighter. King parrots have a gentle, dove-like expression but they can be quite aggressive towards other species.
