Science, SOSE, HPE English Unit: The Science Fiction Solar System - (a) a study of the solar system and conditions on planets, modes of space travel by web quest. (b) a presentation on computer - 'Reality Check - Let's suppose we would like to colonise another planet...'  (c) A Mock Travel Brochure for visitors to another planet - what would they find, what would they need to survive, what could they do and see there? What would the flight time be? etc (d) a short science fiction story of colonising a planet in the solar system - published and shared among class.
HPE, LOTE Unit: Portraits of Many in One Country - (a) a computer presentation of particular culture and identity - biography 'A day in the life of...' with photo and text, voice recording and perhaps video. (b) a recorded transcript of a radio interview which might have taken place if the person was involved in such an event.
Science, SOSE Unit: Disappearing Australians - (a) a gallery of endangered animals for school display - published as separate posters with photo and location, numbers left in the wild etc... (b) use a concept map to depict the types of endangered species and the threats to their survival.
Maths, HPE, Science, English Unit: Freezing My Boots Off! - (a) based on life in Antarctica - visit stations by web, communicate by email with someone stationed there, study weather conditions. (b) graph weather conditions on a spreadsheet, compared to the local conditions to show contrast. (c) Written report - how a particular animal adapts to the cold conditions.
SOSE,  Unit: A Segment in Time - (a) a web site with students/groups developing individual pages on topics related to the colonisation of Australia. (b) with a paint program. design icons for navigating the web site (c) a database of significant people in Australia's history which will appear at the web site.
HPE, Science, Technology Unit: A Garden of Recipes - (a) a plan for a garden using drawing tools and descriptive text. (b) a published book of detailed recipes (including photos) which may use the items grown in the garden as ingredients and/or short class-produced video cooking segments (as on TV). (c) a documentation of the growth of the garden and individual plants by spreadsheet and graph. (d) updated photos of the garden on the school web site along with reports and spreadsheets/graphs.
HPE, SOSE, Science, Technology Unit: A Virtual School Camp! - (a) students take a collection of digital photos and/or videos while on school camp. (b) the school web site has pages added during showing life at camp for the students back at school. (c) communicate by email with classes back at school during the camp. (d) multimedia presentation for school community on experiences at camp
