Introduction Instructions An Outcomes Approach Suggested Skills and Experiences Example Activities Credits
Suggested Activities

Ideally, each school should be developing their own school curriculum plan - which would incorporate the school's vision/mission and units which draw upon a range of outcomes from this school mission and syllabus documents. The units developed would form the basis of assessment and reporting. New Basics or IDEAS schools may have more of a predetermined structure, but the journey is much the same. School are set to tailor their educational experiences for the way their particular students learn and according to the  needs of students in terms of local meaning and relevance.

To this end, it is impossible to prescribe a set of computer learning activities suited for all students in all situations and this must be tailored to the levels of particular class groups and individuals. These are a set of suggestions form what teachers are already doing in their journey toward an outcomes approach in their classrooms. Keep in mind also the need for assessment when designing computer activities, for there needs to be a strong inter-relationship between planning, teaching and assessing/reporting in an outcomes approach.

Along with the suggestions, there will be links to sites where an outcomes approach is taken in the planning of integrated units which incorporate the use of computers. These may be of assistance in taking the suggestions from here one step further into the school's plan as it develops. We will also in the longer term, provide some locally produced examples at this site, and examples of what students may do in the classroom.
