'Pog' - a review by Hayley

Written by Lyn Lee

Illustrated by Kim Gamble

Have you ever been scared of monsters? Well you might like to read Lyn Lee’s,  “Pog .”  This is Lyn Lee’s first book and it has a little twist.

Pog is a monster who is scared of children. Pog thinks he is as brave as a bathtub full of sharks, but the reader soon finds out there IS something that scares brave Pog.

Pog would be excellent for readers aged 6-9. The characters in Pog are brilliant and unusual. Kim Gamble’s watercolour illustrations make the story bright, funny and a book to read over and over again. When you read Pog, your mind will be filled with laughter happiness and excitement.

The cover of the book is outstanding, with Kim Gamble’s watercolour paintings. Children who can read well, will love this book also, as Lyn Lee has written it with a great range of vocabulary. The characters in Pog are unusual and funny and that would attract young readers. My rating of this book would be 9 out of 10 – a must read for young children (especially those who are frightened of monsters )!
